Q. How do you record cameras?
A. You can record to a standard VCR with any blank tape or use a special 9HR tape available here at SCOTLAND YARD SPY SHOP.
B. You can purchase a Time Lapse VCR capable of recording 980hrs/1280hrs.
C. There is Digital Video Recorder (DVR) software and hardware capable of recording months (your hard drive is what determines recording length.) it also has the capability of recording by motion detection if it detects a disturbance in the pixels of the viewing area it starts recording. Sensitivity and post detection recording length is adjustable in the motion detection recording menu. You can also set a recording schedule to meet your exact needs. This hardware and software combination also acts as a Quad Prosser allowing the user to view 4,8,or 16 cameras on one screen. Each DVR card is capable of connecting 4 cameras to your PC and is plugged in to a standard PCI Slot in you PC. It is possible to have up to 4 DVR cards in one PC for a total of 16 cameras. There is a playback mode on the DVR software that allows the user to freeze a frame and make a hardcopy for evidence with a time date and stamp.
Q. What do you mean by hardwired and wireless cameras? What does plug and play mean?
A. A hard-wired camera needs to be physically connected to a TV, VCR, or computer. There is a thin, light-weight cable that goes from the camera to the viewing or recording device. The cable is a dual-purpose cable; it carries power and video. We offer this cable in lengths up to 150 ft., ready to connect.
B. A wireless camera does not need an RCA cable connected from the camera to the TV or VCR. A wireless hidden camera has a video transmitter, as well as the pinhole camera concealed inside the object. The object only needs power from a wall receptacle. A wireless receiver is included with every wireless camera; the receiver is what is connected to the "video in" on your TV, VCR, or computer. The receiver also requires power from a wall receptacle. A wireless camera can transmit up to 600 ft (LOS).
Line of Sight (LOS) means outdoors in clear, perfect conditions (no walls, trees, or any obstructions). This rarely happens in real life but this is how most receivers and transmitters are rated.
Q. 2. Can I get audio in my hidden camera?
A. No you cannot. According to United States federal laws, audio should not be used in a surreptitious manner. One example of surreptitious interception is audio in a hidden camera. This includes pinhole board cameras and all covert or hidden cameras; i.e., a clock radio. Audio in a hidden camera or board camera is only available to law enforcement agencies. Title 18, Section 2512.
Q. How many wireless cameras can I have?
A. This may be the trickiest question to answer. Plan on a maximum of 6 wireless cameras, even though there are 6 channels on the 1.2GHz frequencyand 4 channels on the 2.4GHz frequency. When more than four wireless cameras operate together, an anomaly occurs.
Q. Is a special recorder or monitor needed?
A. No. Any recording or viewing device with video input capabilities can be used, for example, a VCR, TV, camcorder, or computer.
Q. Will anyone be able to tell what is in the box when it arrives?
All our packages are sent in plain, boring cardboard boxes. The shipping label will reflect:
